Local visibility: get found by nearby customers

Many searches have local intent: a workshop, an agency or a shop nearby. Google then often shows a map of businesses at the top, above the regular results. For companies with offices, workshops or stores in several locations, local visibility is one of the most profitable investments.

What decides which businesses appear on the map?

Google mainly weighs relevance, distance and how well-known and well-liked the business is. You can't control where the customer is, but you can make sure Google understands what you offer, where you are and that others trust you.

Take care of your Google Business Profile

A complete profile with the right category, opening hours, photos, services and a link to the website is the foundation. Keep it updated, especially around holidays and changes.

Reviews that build trust

Ask satisfied customers for a review and reply to all of them – including the critical ones. Reviews affect both how high you appear and whether the customer chooses to get in touch.

One page per location

If you have several offices or workshops, each location should have its own page with address, contact details, opening hours and unique content about that place. That makes it easier for Google to match the right page to the right search.

The same details everywhere

Name, address and phone number should be identical on the website, in your business profile and in directories. Conflicting details create uncertainty – for search engines and for AI services compiling answers.
